The afternoon of May 7 will be remembered by the more than 200 guests in attendance as yet another super fun Derby Day. Once again the event which this year marked its 25th Anniversary offered an array of activities for everyone to enjoy. Among the guests were Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bill Withers as well as a number of The Campbell Center Clients.
Guests were greeted by three of our Clients who welcomed them at their arrival, setting the tone for the afternoon’s mood. From the lavish buffet lunch to the fun and playful hat and derby contest, the live streaming of the Kentucky Derby from Churchill Downs, a Silent Auction of over 110 fabulous items, a Live Auction masterfully conducted by CBS2 Weatherman Garth Kemp which included seven exquisite packages such as a Luxury Suite at a Dodgers game and a week in a Presidential Penthouse in Cabo San Lucas, everyone found something to suit their taste. Former TCC Board member Vince Espinoza served as the event M.C. proving once again that he is to the task born.
This year’s event also was the opportunity to pay tribute to the memory of two individuals who passed on this past January – former TCCF Board member Jack Quinn who was instrumental in launching Derby Day at The Campbell Center, and Janice Campbell who was the inspiration for the launching of the organization by her parents in 1954 and is the namesake for the organization’s recent rebranding.
