Since March, we’ve seen significant and unprecedented changes to our lives, and that includes our state’s budget. The economic effects caused by COVID-19 are severe. Over half a billion dollars in cuts to DDS have been considered, which would be devastating to the quality of service for our Associates.
The good news, however, is the current version of the Budget Governor Newsom is reviewing doesn’t cut any money from people with developmental disabilities. But between now and June 30th, he still has the power to make last minute cuts to the Budget for next year. That means he has the power to defund vital services for our Associates. We need to put pressure on him to prevent any cuts to DDS.
Can you call Governor Newsom today to support people with developmental disabilities?
The best way you can prevent these cuts is by telling him to you strongly support a Budget that protects the developmental disabilities service system and its funding. You don’t need to make a long speech or write a detailed email. It’s just a simple call, saying that you strongly support a Budget that protects the developmental disabilities service system and its funding. Your call can make a difference!
