In celebration of Latinx Heritage Month we would like to congratulate Adela Garcia on her promotion as our new Community Integration Coordinator!
Ambitious, innovative and always with a positive attitude, Adela has been a vital asset to our team in her two years here. She is not one to shy away from a challenge. Adela led the transition to virtual services when the pandemic hit and created a robust set of programming for our Associates to stay connected with one another.
Adela was born and raised in Southern California. As a teen, she sought help from El Nido Family Centers, an organization she remains involved with to this day. In fact, she was a keynote speaker at their most recent Gala! She said she has found her calling working in the nonprofit world, where she aims to uplift people in her network and community.
From the organizations she works with, Adela has made connections and recruited valuable staff to our team from her network.
Adela said, “As someone who received opportunities when I was trying to get my career started, it’s one of my top priorities to pay it forward to others as well, especially Latinx students and early-career professionals.”
When Adela began working at TCC, she had recently graduated with her Associate degree in Sociology from Glendale Community College. She is currently working toward her Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Services and Veterans Services certificate from Cal State LA.
When Adela is not working or working towards her Bachelor’s degree, she enjoys spending her time attending orchestra concerts at the Hollywood Bowl with her partner Julia and son Matthew.
Congratulations, Adela! We’re so glad to have you on our team.
