Staff Spotlight – Paula!

This week, we want to recognize one of our staff members Paula Peterson, Residential Administrator, for her dedication to our Associates and our mission.

As the Residential Administrator, Paula goes above and beyond that job title: she’s a problem-solver and a nurturer. She makes sure that not only are all our residents’ needs met, but that we provide the best quality of life for them at home. In a typical day she’s scheduling and accompanying Associates to doctors’ appointments, coordinating with family members and the regional center to do what’s best for residents, and making sure that staff is on duty to support them – and that’s all before noon.

And since March, so much has changed. Our residents now spend most of their time at home and because of that, our priority has shifted to maintaining cleanliness, safety, and hygiene standards there. Thanks to Paula and the residential staff members’ efforts, we have not had an outbreak at any of our three residences.

If you didn’t know, Paula is a veteran staff member of TCC: she started working here when she was 17. Her parents were both administrative staff at TCC, so she has grown with the associates and the organization.

She said, “I really grew up with some of the residents. I’ve known John at the David Gogian House since he was 15 and I was 16. We’ve spent Christmases together, celebrated countless birthdays, and gone on vacations: I feel really lucky to have the associates in my life and to be in their lives.”

And over the years, Paula has considered changing things up and trying a different line of work, but her passion and commitment to our residents has drawn her back in. She said, “If I leave, who’s going to know how to take care of Carmen or John? Even though I have my own children, they feel like family to me.”

It’s clear that Paula is incredibly committed to our Associates and our mission. We’re so proud to have her on our team!
