As we embrace this holiday season, everyone at The Campbell Center sends you warm wishes filled with happiness and joy. We are grateful for your encouragement and support throughout the year as we strive to meet the evolving needs of our Associates—adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
In our digital age, we frequently connect with people, work, and the world around us through technology. For many of our Associates, this connection is becoming increasingly vital. However, we’ve discovered that a significant number of them lack a strong understanding of online safety—a gap we’re determined to bridge.
“Especially during the holidays, the importance of online safety cannot be overstated as scams become more prevalent.”
A recent eye-opening experience involved an Associate in our Digital Literacy Online Playbook program. When asked about the password to his email, he revealed that he didn’t know it as his family managed his online accounts. This simple yet profound moment sparked an enlightening discussion. Empowered by the knowledge from our program, he returned to the next session with his own password list, eager to learn how to log in independently.
Another Associate faced challenges as he frequently sought out new friends online without understanding the risks. With dedicated staff support, he began to recognize the difference between friends and acquaintances, fostering healthier connections and awareness of his online interactions.
The importance of online safety cannot be overstated, especially as scams become more prevalent. In the coming year, we plan to expand our Digital Playbook programming to ensure every new Associate learns how to navigate the online world safely. They will gain vital skills to connect with employment opportunities, community events, and reliable information—all while staying safe from potential dangers.
We invite you to join us in making a meaningful impact. Your generous gift today will support The Campbell Center’s person-centered programming, providing our Associates with essential computer skills and the confidence they need to thrive in the digital world.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to uplift our community. Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful holiday season!
