Our community integration program is often the first step. We help adults of all ages who are not able or not yet ready to seek employment the opportunity to volunteer, take classes or participate in various local activities. Our Support Specialists identify various opportunities, plan and supervise outings based on personal choice, then coordinate transportation and arrange scheduling. They guide our Associates on how to stay safe, nurture peer relationships and interact with others, as well as provide opportunities for self-expression and personal discovery through the arts and community classes.
This grant-funded program is based on the premise that self-expression through the Arts leads to self-confidence, and for some, self-employment. Led by volunteer art instructors, Academy participants not only create their own artwork, but attend local fairs and exhibits to display and sell their wares.
